Provincetown at a Glance
Located on a peninsula at the tip of Cape
Cod is Provincetown, the site of the first pilgrim landing in 1620. Visitors
can climb to the top of the Pilgrim
Monument, which stands to mark their historic landing, to enjoy panoramic
views of the harbor and the Cape
Cod National Seashore. Another popular attraction is Provincetown
Art Association and Museum, home to four galleries showcasing works by a variety
of American artists. The town is somewhat isolated, but this is compensated by
easy accessibility by ferry for travelers from Boston
and other parts of the state. Bordered by stretching beaches on either side of
the peninsula, Provincetown is a haven for recreation enthusiasts and whale watchers
alike. During the whales' migratory season, between April and October, whale watching
tours are abundant. With over 20 bed and breakfast accommodations, visitors have
plenty of opportunity to experience Provincetown hospitality.
